About Blackboard Markets

Hi, I’m Laura.

Blackboard Markets is something I built because I wanted it to exist locally. I felt like Peterborough was missing the kind of traditional farmers market I wanted to visit myself, one centred around great food, local producers and the people behind it.

From the very beginning, I set out to create a market with a strong focus on quality, great food and supporting local businesses.

I’m the founder, organiser, problem solver, occasional delivery driver and professional email sender… and pretty much everything in between.

What you see today has been built by me, and I’m incredibly proud of our reputation and what Blackboard Markets has become.

Why markets?

I’ve always loved markets. I mean, really love them!

I’m a massive foodie, a bit of a nerd, a total introvert and probably slightly crazy for taking on everything I do. But I genuinely wouldn’t have it any other way.

You get to meet the person who made your jam, chat with the local farmer who grew your vegetables, or the baker who made the bread you’re taking home, and actually get to know the people behind the businesses you’re supporting.

That’s what you’ll find at Blackboard Markets. Good food, great people and plenty to discover.

Food,Makers,Community

At Blackboard Markets, our farmers markets bring the community together to celebrate the very best from local farms, producers, and artisans. From fresh seasonal produce bursting with flavour to beautiful handcrafted goods, our markets are a place to discover something new, support local businesses and celebrate the incredible talent our region has to offer.

There’s just something about wandering around a market. Discovering something you didn’t expect, stopping for a chat, finding a new favourite and coming away with things you never planned on buying.

Our traders matter

I genuinely believe our markets are only as good as the businesses we work with.

The people who trade at our markets are the reason they feel different. I want customers to discover new businesses they might not have known existed, meet the people behind them and find products they come back for again and again.

I’m really passionate about the businesses we work with. Small businesses put an enormous amount into what they do, and I want our markets to be somewhere they can meet new customers, build relationships and grow.

We hope that once you experience a Blackboard Market, you’ll love it as much as we do and keep coming back to discover, shop and support local.
